Tehran Threatens Trump's Life on Giant Sign as Iran Talks Continue

Iran’s government marked America’s Election Day by unveiling a massive billboard over one of Tehran’s busiest intersections that reads “We will kill Trump,” according to Agence France-Presse reporting carried by The Straits Times and NDTV.

The billboard towers over Enghelab Square in central Tehran and shows President Donald Trump behind bars with his head bowed, AFP reported. The wire service described the display as bringing “to a new level the official rhetoric displayed in the capital.”

A second billboard nearby showed President Trump alongside Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with bloodied faces and ragged suits, set against worn-out American and Israeli flags, according to the AFP report published by The Straits Times.

Dozens of people gathered in the square waving red flags and carrying banners that read “There will be blood,” while calling for revenge for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, AFP reported.

A Wider Propaganda Campaign

The Enghelab Square billboard is not the only display. At Tajrish Square in northern Tehran, illustrations showed the President’s face covered in blood, including one with a foot crushing his head, according to Lebanon’s Annahar, which cited AFP. Annahar also reported that a life-size prison cell installation, with an actor portraying Trump inside, remains on display as part of a propaganda campaign that launched in late October.

State-sponsored billboards and murals have been a constant feature of public spaces in Iran since 1979, Annahar noted, and the regime uses them to send political messages to its adversaries, particularly the United States and Israel.

Threats While Talking Deals

The threat comes as the regime is negotiating with Washington through mediators. President Trump said Monday that Iran “wants a settlement, as soon as possible. It could happen!” according to International Business Times. Vice President Vance told CNN that “the president and I both feel really good about the prospect of potentially coming to a negotiated settlement,” IBTimes reported.

The President also told Axios on Monday that he is in “no rush,” saying, “We crippled them financially. They have no money, no gasoline and their people are getting very tired of it,” according to IBTimes.

Iranian officials are signaling a harder line. An unnamed Iranian official told reporters that “mediators are working hard to narrow gaps between Tehran and Washington,” but said “Tehran’s conditions must be met if the U.S. wants Hormuz reopened,” IBTimes reported. That official called Washington’s current demands “excessive,” according to the outlet.

A regime that hangs a death threat against the sitting American President over its capital on the same day Americans go to the polls is telling the world exactly what it thinks.
