President Donald Trump on Sunday accused Fox News of giving too much airtime to Democrats running against Republican candidates, just nine days before the November 3 midterm elections.
“FoxNews is spending far too much time putting on the OPPONENTS of Republican Party Candidates, people that love our Country, and have Great Policies and Ideas,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “These American Patriots are being absolutely ‘blurred out’ by the Media, and Fox is doing little to help. That’s the only reason this Race is close, if it is indeed close.”

The post went up at 12:49 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, according to the Truth Social archive site Trump’s Truth. Trump did not say which race he was referring to in the post.
Which Democrats got airtime
The Hill reported that Fox News has recently interviewed several Democratic candidates, including Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, Kentucky Senate candidate Charles Booker, and Iowa Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rob Sand. Mediaite reported that Fox has interviewed El-Sayed twice in recent weeks and has also hosted Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) discussing El-Sayed’s campaign.
The timing points to Michigan. Mediaite reported that Trump was expected to return to Michigan on Sunday, where El-Sayed was narrowly leading Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers in one of the closest Senate races in the country.
Hours after a friendly Fox interview
The criticism came hours after Trump phoned into a program hosted by Larry Kudlow, his former White House economic adviser, on Fox Business, according to The Hill and Mediaite.
“You’ve been relentless! Your campaigning, it’s Herculean. You’re turning the tide. You’re getting voters out. You’re raising enthusiasm,” Kudlow told the president, according to The Hill.
“I have worked very hard,” Trump replied, according to the same report. “I’ve done 14 rallies in nine days and it’s a lot.”
Not the first complaint
The Hill reported that Trump made a similar complaint last week, accusing Fox of being too kind to Democratic candidates on its shows in order to be what he has called “politically correct.” The Hill also noted that Trump has long criticized the media, Fox News included, for its coverage of Republicans.
The frustration reflects a real strategic question for Republicans in the closing stretch. Every booking a Democratic Senate or governor candidate gets on the most-watched cable news network in the country is free exposure to swing-leaning conservative and independent viewers, at a time when GOP candidates are working to turn out their base. Trump’s argument is that conservative viewers should be hearing more from the Republicans on their ballot, not less.
Critics on the left quickly framed the post as Trump blaming others for tight races, a line Mediaite echoed in its headline. Supporters on X countered that the president is right to push the network to give Republican candidates more time in front of its audience before votes are cast.
What comes next
Trump has been campaigning across the country for Republican candidates as the party works to keep its House and Senate majorities, The Hill reported, and he told Kudlow he has held 14 rallies in nine days. Early voting is already underway in several states ahead of Election Day on November 3.
Fox News had not publicly responded to the president’s post as of Sunday afternoon.
