A 21-year-old Daytona Beach woman is in the Volusia County Jail after a social media post threatening to shoot President Donald Trump at his Friday night rally in her city, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Mike Chitwood identified the woman as Allison Albro, 21, of Daytona Beach. “We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president,” Chitwood said in a post on X Friday morning, adding that Albro “is learning that the hard way.”
We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president. Allison Albro, 21, Daytona Beach, is learning that the hard way. She posted this last night and got a visit from the @VolusiaSheriff Domestic Security Unit and the @SecretService. She said she was joking with this… pic.twitter.com/m9vvBQhgI4

According to the Palm Coast Observer, Albro posted a selfie with the caption, “Going to the trump rally in my city tmr so I can shoot him with my glock! wish me luck guys!!” WFTV reported that investigators said the threat was posted on Instagram on Thursday.
FBI tip led to a late-night visit
WFTV reported that detectives with the sheriff’s Daytona-area investigative unit were notified by the FBI about the post on Thursday, and that the Volusia Crime Center quickly identified Albro as the person responsible. According to the station, detectives and U.S. Secret Service agents then went to her Daytona Beach residence.
Chitwood said Albro got a visit from the sheriff’s Domestic Security Unit and the Secret Service after she posted the message. According to WESH, the sheriff said Albro told investigators she was joking, did not have access to a Glock or any other weapon and would never hurt anyone.
WFTV reported that authorities conducted a consensual search of the residence and found no firearms, ammunition or related accessories. Fox 35 Orlando reported that Albro was arrested early Friday.
Felony charges and no bond
According to Fox 35 Orlando, Albro was taken to the Volusia County Jail and faces charges of written threats to kill or do bodily injury and unlawful use of a communication device. WFTV reported that she was booked with no bond. The charges are accusations, and Albro has not been convicted of any crime.
Chitwood also issued a warning to anyone tempted to post something similar. “I would strongly advise anyone else thinking of posting a ‘joke’ along these lines to think twice,” the sheriff said, according to News 6 WKMG.
“VSO continues to work hand in hand with the Secret Service, FBI and all our law enforcement partners to ensure this presidential visit to Daytona Beach is a safe event for all who attend, and for our whole community,” Chitwood said, according to WKMG.
Rally goes on tonight
President Trump is scheduled to hold a rally at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach at 7 p.m. Friday, according to WKMG and Fox 35 Orlando. Fox 35 reported that the event already carries increased security measures because it is a presidential visit, and WESH reported that the sheriff’s office said Thursday it would deploy strict security measures in the area ahead of the rally.
The Daytona Beach stop is one of several the president is making before Election Day on Nov. 3, according to Fox 35. The arrest comes as the president has survived multiple attempts on his life, which is why law enforcement leaders like Chitwood say threats of this kind, even ones later described as jokes, are treated as serious crimes.
The sheriff’s message was blunt: a threat against the president is not a punchline, and anyone who posts one should expect a knock on the door.
