Actor Mark Hamill ignited a firestorm Thursday after posting an AI-generated image depicting President Donald Trump lying in a grave with the caption “if only.” The White House immediately condemned the post as a “disgusting call to violence” and demanded former President Barack Obama publicly denounce his recent collaborator.
The Star Wars actor accompanied the graphic image with a lengthy screed wishing Trump would “live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption and impeached convicted and humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he’ll be disgraced in the history books forever more.”
The timing could not be worse. The post surfaced just days after an alleged assassination attempt on President Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The suspect has been charged with attempting to assassinate the President.
