Jordan: FBI Tracked Melania, Barron Trump in Plasmic Echo Spy Op

FBI Tracked Melania and Barron Trump in Real-Time Surveillance Operation Tied to Jack Smith Probe

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan revealed new documents showing the Biden-era FBI engaged in real-time monitoring of communications involving Donald Trump’s now-chief of staff Susie Wiles during special counsel Jack Smith’s classified documents investigation. The surveillance operation, known as Plasmic Echo, also tracked the travel of Melania Trump and Barron Trump.

Jordan detailed the scope of the monitoring during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s program, describing the tools used to capture who Wiles contacted, call durations, and incoming calls. The surveillance extended to the president’s attorneys and political allies.

The chairman said his committee had already referred Smith to the Department of Justice for lying under oath about access to communications involving members of Congress. Jordan noted additional issues are under review, including efforts that appeared aimed at restricting the president’s ability to communicate during the investigation period.

The surveillance captured details on who Wiles was speaking with, when calls occurred, how long conversations lasted, and who was attempting to reach her. Jordan characterized the monitoring as part of a broader pattern of attempts to interfere with Trump’s path to the presidency.

The operation also monitored the First Family’s movements and communications in what Jordan described as an unprecedented intrusion. He connected the episode to earlier actions, including the Russia collusion investigation and the letter from former intelligence officials regarding the Hunter Biden laptop.

Jordan addressed Smith’s recent public appearance wearing a No Kings t-shirt at a political festival, attributing such conduct to a sense of entitlement among certain officials. The chairman said the conduct reflects an arrogance that leads officials to believe they can access communications of the White House Chief of Staff, the Speaker of the House, and the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee without consequence.

The committee has referred Smith and other figures, including John Brennan and James Comey, for lying to Congress about similar matters. Jordan emphasized the need for accountability and said his committee’s job is to get the truth to the American people.

The revelations come less than a week after Smith testified before Congress. Jordan said the new documents confirm what his committee has consistently found in its investigations: the situation is always worse than initially understood.

The chairman described the length Smith was willing to go to stop Trump from becoming president as unbelievable. He said the monitoring tools used represent a level of surveillance that should alarm every American who values privacy and the rule of law.

Jordan said his committee will continue to examine the full scope of the surveillance operation and determine whether additional referrals are warranted. He noted that FBI officials in Washington pushed back against some of the actions but were overruled.

The Plasmic Echo operation adds to a growing list of concerns about the conduct of the special counsel’s office during the classified documents probe. The real-time monitoring of communications involving a future White House Chief of Staff and the tracking of the First Family’s travel represent an escalation in the tactics used during the investigation.

Jordan said the committee’s work is focused on holding officials accountable when they lie under oath or abuse their authority. He said the pattern of behavior from the intelligence community and special counsel offices over the past decade demonstrates a willingness to use government power against political opponents.

The chairman said the American people deserve to know the full extent of the surveillance conducted during the investigation and who authorized it. He said the documents his committee has obtained raise serious questions about the legal basis for the monitoring and whether proper oversight was in place.

Jordan said he expects further revelations as the committee continues its investigation. He said the new documents are another example of why congressional oversight is essential to checking executive branch overreach and protecting constitutional rights.
